Introduction to Engineering Faculty

The Faculty of Engineering was established within the framework of Helmand University five years after the establishment of the University in 2011 with two departments. Civil and Water Resources and Environmental Protection Engineering.

There are 15 lecturers at this faculty, one of whom has doctoral degree, five of them are studying for doctorates in Turkey, India, Iran, and Japan, and two of them are engaged in master's studies in Japan; Six of them, who are continuing the teaching affairs, have master's degrees and one of them, who is newly hired, has bachelor's degrees.

In the academic year of 2020-2021, the Department of Water Resources and Environmental Protection Engineering has also started its teaching process, which now has 138 students in two classes.

Mission

The Faculty of Engineering in both its departments (Civil and Water Resources and Environmental Protection Engineering) strives to train its students with high quality in order to meet the changing needs of the society. Improvement and development in scientific research is the need and mission of the faculty; Therefore, the faculty regularly tries to improve its skills and quality.

The faculty strives to create a good learning environment, cooperation and mutual respect between its students and staff. This university gives priority to moral actions and responsibility towards the society and is committed to the culture that has Islamic and social aspects in our society.

Supportive Courses

As almost 80% of the teaching materials of the Faculty of Engineering are in English and also, as English is the language of today's era and technology, so to have the problems of the students’ English language, the administration of the Faculty is trying to create special English classes for them; and the new students to the faculty are required to follow the mentioned classes in the first four semesters.

In the light of the materials of these letters, every year the faculty introduces its 4th grade students to these institutions in order to perform practical work and gain experience; so, at the end of the year, the students get a certificate and qualification of full work experience.

Laboratory of Civil Department of Engineering Faculty

Laboratory of Civil Department of the faculty is equipped with modern and advanced machinery and equipment. It has the ability to carry out experiments and tests on building materials.

1: Creating a standard mix design for concrete works (Concrete Mix Design) in which concrete constituents such as cement, coarse-grained aggregate, sand, additives and water are tested on different properties.

2: Conducting tests on the different properties of concrete in its fresh and rigid states and determining different resistances.

3: Determining different resistances and quality of steel rods used in reinforced concrete.

4: Conducting CBR test.

Monitoring of Construction Projects

The supervision and supervision of all the construction projects of Helmand University is in charge of the Faculty of Engineering so that the project would have the following characteristics.

  • Execution of projects with high quality in view of all engineering norms
  • Early and on time delivery of projects
  • Transparency in the completion of construction projects
